Celgene Corp. said Thomas Ordiorne, 52, the company'spresident and chief operating officer since April, died of anapparent heart attack on July 10.

John Ufheil, chairman and chief executive officer, hastemporarily assumed his duties until a replacement isappointed.

Odiorne succeeded Ufheil as president on April 5 and theposition of chief operating officer was newly created. A 25-year veteran of the pharmaceutical industry, Odiorne left thepresidency of the Pharmaceutical Development Group ofJohnson & Johnson to join Celgene. He was previously presidentof J&J's McNeil Pharmaceutical Company.
