FDA grants emergency use authorization for Ebola assay

The FDA granted emergency use authorization to the Department of Defense (DoD) for an assay to help contain the outbreak of Ebola in western Africa. The DoD's Ebola Zaire Target 1 real-time polymerase chain reaction assay – one of the Taqman series of assays – can be run on several analyzers, including Indianapolis-based Roche Diagnostics' Lightcycler.
