Mouse Model of Human Bowel Cancer Points to Drug Targets

LONDON – A mouse model for a subtype of colon cancer – genetically identical to the equivalent human cancer – is making it possible to screen drugs to find more effective treatments for that type of tumor. Developed by an international team of researchers, the mouse model was genetically modified to have the same mutation in the BRAF gene that is found in about 10 percent of people with colon cancer.
