Study Links Gut Microbiome to Obesity's Effect on Cancer Risk

Obesity raises an individual's risk of developing a variety of different tumor types, but most of the details of how it does so remain unclear. Now, researchers from the Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research have linked obesity, inflammation and the gut microbiome to present one way in which obesity appears to ultimately lead to the development of tumors. The gut microbiomes of obese individuals, they found, contain more gram-positive bacteria.
