The Supreme Court of the U.S. has overturned a ruling by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in the case of Life Technologies v. Promega, but by some accounts, the outcome may do much more than declare that more than one component has to be involved in order to qualify as a “substantial component” of a purportedly infringing article.
