eClinicalWorks (Westborough, Massachusetts), a maker of ambulatory healthcare IT solutions, reported integration between its wholly-owned subsidiary healow (Health & Online Wellness) and wearable devices and fitness trackers iHealth Lab (Mountain View, California). Data from these devices will seamlessly integrate into a consumer's personal health record (PHR) via healow.com and healow mobile application as well as be available to that person's medical provider, advancing care delivery.

According to a recent PricewaterhouseCoopers survey, adoption of wearable technology is around 20% and rising. By integrating these devices with the healow platform, consumers will have usage information seamlessly updated on healow.com and the healow app, which will be included with their PHR. This information may also be shared with the users' physician, with patient permission, and automatically enters the electronic health records system. Monitoring daily habits leads to healthier choices, specifically for patients living with chronic diseases, such as diabetes or asthma. Linking a medical provider to these results improves outcomes by keeping the provider informed as well as enabling them to flag specific changes.

iHealth Lab's goal is to make it as easy as possible for individuals of all ages to take a more active role in managing their health.
