The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, California) has named Scott Forrest as the institute's new director of business and technology development. Previously, Forrest was the assistant director of technology development at UNC Chapel Hill. The Scripps Research Institute is an independent, non-profit biomedical research organization.

• Tenet Healthcare (Dallas) has named Joe Thomason as CEO of Tenet's Centennial Medical Center, a 118-bed acute care hospital located in Frisco, Texas. Thomason has served as the hospital's interim CEO since March 2009. Tenet Healthcare, through its subsidiaries, owns and operates acute care hospitals and related ancillary healthcare businesses, which include ambulatory surgery centers and diagnostic imaging centers.

John Mach, Jr, MD, was named chief medical officer of XLHealth (Baltimore). Previously, Dr. Mach was CEO/chairman of United HealthCare's Evercare healthplans. XLHealth is an organization focused on improving the healthcare of chronically ill seniors.
