Robert Superko, MD, was named VP and chief of medical affairs at Celera (Alameda, California), effective June 1. Superko is currently the executive director at the Center for Genomics and Human Health at St. Joseph's Translational Research Institute in Atlanta. Dr. Superko sits on the editorial boards of several journals including the Journal of Cardiovascular Risk and Preventative Cardiology. Celera specializes in personalized disease management.

Robert O'Holla was named VP of regulatory affairs for Nfocus Neuromedical (Palo Alto, California). In addition, Eric Milledge was named chairman of the board. O'Holla previously chaired the technology and regulatory advisory committee at AdvaMed. Milledge has held positions of company group chairman of Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems, president of Ortho-McNeil, and president of Ortho Pharmaceutical. Nfocus is a start-up company that focuses on endovascular neurosurgery solutions (surgery through less-invasive catheter devices).

• Orthofix International (Boston) said that Peter Hewett will be retiring from the company's board. Hewett has been a director of Orthofix since March of 1992, and was the deputy chairman beginning in 2005. Orthofix makes products for the spine, orthopedic, and sports medicine markets.

Stephen Wisenhunt was named VP of global sales and marketing for Resonant Medical (Montreal). Whisenhunt previously was VP of international sales at Xoft. Resonant Medical makes 3-D ultrasound image-guided adaptive radiotherapy products.

Amos Netzer was named CEO of Shamir Optical Industry (Kibbutz Shamir, Israel), effective July 1. Netzer currently is CEO of Spirit Economic Consultants. He was an external director of the Shamir board until April 2007. Netzer will replace Eyal Hayardeny, who has resigned from the position. Shamir Optical Industry serves the ophthalmic lens market.

• Teleflex (Limerick, Pennsylvania) said that Stuart Randle, president/CEO of GI Dynamics, has joined the company's board. Teleflex has a presence in medical technology and niche businesses serving aerospace and commercial markets.
