Leon Moulder Jr has been named vice chairman, president and CEO of Abraxis BioScience (Los Angeles). Moulder most recently was vice chairman of Eisai of North America following Eisai's acquisition of MGI Pharma, where he was president/CEO since 2003. Abraxis is a biotech firm developing treatments for cancer and other illnesses.

Abbott Krieger, MD, has been named chief clinical liaison for Avery Biomedical Devices (Commack, New York). Krieger most recently was clinical professor in the department of neurological surgery at the USC Keck School of Medicine. Avery makes the breathing pacemaker, an implanted phrenic nerve stimulator used for freeing quadriplegic and central hypoventilation patients from mechanical ventilation.

George Scangos, PhD, president/CEO of Exelixis (San Francisco), has been elected vice chairman of the California Healthcare Institute (CHI; La Jolla). CHI is a public policy research organization, representing California academic institutions, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics and pharmaceutical firms.

Rajesh Suresh Sheth, MD, has been named managing director for India for Imaging Diagnostic Systems (IDS; Fort Lauderdale, Florida). Sheth is a radiologist, with more than 18 years of experience. IDS specializes in developing imaging devices for detecting breast cancer.

Frank Wilson has been named senior VP, CFO and chief accounting officer for PerkinElmer (Waltham, Massachusetts). Wilson previously was corporate VP of investor relations at Danaher. PerkinElmer develops health and safety improvements.

Howard Lance has been named to the board of Stryker (Kalamazoo, Michigan). Lance is currently chairman, president and CEO at Harris Corp. Stryker makes orthopedics products.
