• CombiMatrix (Mukilteo, Washington) said that Karine Hovanes, PhD, has joined its wholly owned subsidiary, Combimatrix Molecular Diagnostics (CMDX), as its Laboratory Director. Dr. Hovanes is a Diplomat of the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Molecular Genetics and Clinical Cytogenetics and is also licensed in New York and California in both cytogenetics and molecular genetics. Dr. Hovanes joins CMDX from Laboratory Corporation of America. CombiMatrix specializes in drug development, genetic analysis, molecular diagnostics, nanotechnology and defense products.

• Brent McCarty was named president/CEO of Solis Women's Health (Austin, Texas). He also will join the company's board. Most recently, McCarty was president/COO of Accuro Healthcare Solutions. Solis Women's Health is a specialized healthcare provider focused exclusively on the screening and diagnosis of breast cancer.
