Medsphere University launched
Medsphere Systems (Carlsbad, California) reported the launch of Medsphere University. This specialized training and certification program is Medsphere's initial foray into training collaborative business partners to implement OpenVista, the company's flagship electronic health record (EHR) solution.
The curriculum of Medsphere University includes extensive courses in OpenVista laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, clinical information system, health information management system/patient information management system functionality and related project management principles.
LCA-Vision supports surgeon's concerns
LCA-Vision (Cincinnati), a provider of laser vision correction services under the LasikPlus brand, said that its 11-member Medical Advisory Board has expressed unanimous support for LCA-Vision management's actions to address concerns raised by the company's surgeons in June 2008.

MedPro Safety gains ISO certification
MedPro Safety Products (Lexington, Kentucky) said it has achieved 13485:2003 ISO certification, a significant designation that confirms that the company meets international standards for medical device manufacturing.
The registration provides recognition that a company's processes are fully compliant with market expectations for quality medical device production and performance. The standard known as ISO 13485, "Medical devices – Quality management systems – Requirements for regulatory purposes," has become the global standard for those involved in the manufacturing of medical devices.
Doctor Diabetic Supply renews ACHC accediation
Doctor Diabetic Supply (Miami) said it has renewed its accreditation with the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for the services of medical equipment and health care product supply. Doctor Diabetic Supply has been accredited since 2006.
Virtual Imaging receives ISO certification
Virtual Imaging (Deerfield Beach, Florida) reported ISO 9001:2000 certification from Intertek.
In using the ISO 9001:2000 certified quality control process, Virtual Imaging says that the RadPRO product line follows a QMS that concentrates on the improvements of the design, development, production and installation of medical devices and related services.
Virtual Imaging is the master distributor for Canon Medical Systems in the Americas.
NexMed receives Nasdaq noncompliance letter
NexMed (East Windsor, New Jersey), a maker of transdermal products based on the company's NexACT drug delivery technology, said that it has received a notice from Nasdaq indicating that it does not comply with the minimum $2.5 million in stockholders' equity requirement for continued listing on the Nasdaq Capital Market set forth in Marketplace Rule 4310(c)(3).
Additionally, the company does not comply with the alternative Marketplace Rule which requires total market value of listed securities of $35 million or $500,000 of net income from continuing operations for the most recently completed fiscal year or two of the three most recently completed fiscal years.
