Impac Software (Sunnyvale, California) and BioImagene (Cupertino, California) have reported the development of an interface between PowerPath, Impac's AP laboratory information system (LIS), and Virtuoso, BioImagene's digital pathology solution. The new interface provides an optimized workflow for digital slide imaging and analysis, case management and reporting.
BioImagene CEO Ajit Singh said, "Virtuoso is a role-based system that enables the various roles – pathologist, histo-technologist, lab administrator, clinician – to improve the efficiency and quality of the various steps in the anatomic pathology workflow. The Virtuoso PowerPath integration will benefit our laboratory customers further as they now have access to complete case history in a digital format improving the quality of results reported to the clinician."
"Digital pathology is a great application of digital imaging science, and is, indeed, defining new capabilities, efficiencies, workflows and boundaries in the anatomic pathology laboratory," said George Rugg, SVP and general manager of Impac's LIS business unit. "The work BioImagene is doing contributes significantly to those advancements."
