Jennifer Mieres, MD, was named president of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC; Bethesda, Maryland). Dr. Mieres is associate professor of medicine and director of nuclear cardiology at New York University. Mieres will serve as president of ASNC until 2010. ASNC is a professional association dedicated to education, advocacy, and quality for the field of nuclear cardiology.

• dbMotion (Pittsburgh) reported the expansion of its North American executive management team to meet the increasing demand for HIT solutions. Industry veterans Marty McKenna, as VP of commercial operations and marketing; John Jordan, as VP of sales focusing on the eastern U.S. and Steve House as VP of sales focusing on the western states, have joined the company's operations that are headquartered in Pittsburgh. McKenna most recently was responsible for client sales and partnerships at Allscripts. Jordan was senior VP of sales for Insite One. • Clarus Ventures (Cambridge, Massachusetts) reported the promotions of Emmett Cunningham, MD, PhD, to partner and Scott Requadt, JD, to transactional partner. Cunningham joined Clarus in 2006 and represents the firm as a director on the board of SARcode and as a board observer at FerroKin, Pearl, Taligen and Zogenix. Requadt joined Clarus in 2005 and represents the firm as a director on the board of TyRx Pharma and as a board observer at Biolex, Oxford Immunotec, Link Medicine and Variation. Clarus also named Edward Scolnick, MD, as a venture partner and Finny Kuruvilla, MD, PhD, as a principal of the firm. Scolnick comes to Clarus from the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard (Cambridge, Massacusetts), where he is director of the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research. Kuruvilla also comes from the Broad Institute, where he led a collaborative effort with Affymetrix in medical genetics. Clarus Ventures is a life sciences venture capital firm.

Bill Bonnar was named senior VP of operations for Illumina (San Diego). Bonnar joins Illumina from KLA-Tencor, where he served in several senior operations management positions. Illumina makes life science tools and integrated systems for the analysis of genetic variation and biological function.
