Bill Simonet was named VP of sales of Acusis (Pittsburgh). Prior to joining Acusis, Simonet held executive-level positions with a variety of global health information management companies, including Precyse Solutions, Spryance/Heartland, Sten-Tel and Dictaphone. Acusis makes Higher Standards outsourced and software medical transcription services.

American Scientific Resources (ASR; Weston, Florida) reported the addition of two new members to the company's board, Felix Reznick and Teresa McWilliams. Reznick is a private practice attorney specializing in corporate, employment, trust and estates, bankruptcy, real estate and general business. McWilliams is acting CFO of ASR. American Scientific Resources makes health, medical, and safety products distributed primarily through nationwide medical suppliers, infomercials and on-line sites.

Kevin McGrath was named president/CEO of eDiets.com (Fort Lauderdale, Florida). Stephen Rattner, who served as eDiets CEO since November 2007, will now serve as executive VP of corporate services. Prior to joining eDiets, McGrath was president/CEO of Digital Angel. eDiets.com is a provider of online weight loss services.

Anthony LaPlaca has been named senior vice president and general counsel of Invacare (Elyria, Ohio), replacing Dale LaPorte, who retired as of year-end. LaPlaca comes to Invacare from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, a member of the Knorr-Bremse group, where he served as vice president and general counsel for the past 6-1/2 years. Invacare is a global leader in the manufacture of home and long-term-care medical products.

Hussein Al-Khalidi was named director of biostatistics for Statking Consulting (Cincinnati). Previously, Al-Khalidi was a statistician at Proctor and Gamble Pharmaceuticals. Statking Consuting provides data related services for clinical trials.
