Doug Treco, PhD, has named an entrepreuneur-in-residence for the Life Science Team in the Boston office of Morgenthaler Ventures (Menlo Park, California). Treco co-founded Transkaryotic Therapies, a multi-platform biopharmaceutical company which was acquired in 2005 by Shire plc. He also currently serves as a visiting scientist in the department of molecular biology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Morganthaler Ventures is a venture capital and buyout firm.

Daniel Hunt Jr., PhD, has joined the Radiation Therapy Oncology Groups (RTOG; Philadelphia) as a senior statistician in the group's statistics and data management center. Prior to joining the RTOG, Dr. Hunt was a research associate in the Biostatistics Department of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. RTOG is a National Cancer Institute-funded national clinical trials group and is administered by the American College of Radiology.

Touch Bionics (Middletown, New York) has named John Carpenter as a regional manager. Carpenter is responsible for the central region of the U.S., which includes Minnesota, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Montana, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. A congenital amputee and small-business owner from Michigan, Carpenter used a myoelectric hand for 20 years. When he discovered the Touch Bionics i-LIMB Hand, he was so impressed by the form and functionality it provided that he decided to become involved with the company.
