Nathan Harris has been named VP of sales and marketing at CAS Medical Systems (Branford, Connecticut). He most recently was VP of U.S. sales and global marketing at Salient Surgical Technologies. CAS Medical makes products for non-invasive patient monitoring.

Jim Srock was named VP of engineering and operations of ClearCount Medical Solutions (Pittsburgh). Srock most recently was VP of engineering and new product development at Renal Solutions. ClearCount Medical Solutions makes patient safety solution for the operating room.

• Galen Advisors (Atlanta) said that that company founder Jere Pittner will serve as president/CEO. Pittner also will serve in the same capacity for Galen Billing Services (GBS), a division of Galen Advisors. Galen Advisors offers expertise in all areas of medical practice management with a special emphasis on medical billing and the development of ambulatory surgery centers and other ancillaries.

Willarda Edwards, MD, has been designated as president-elect of the National Medical Association (NMA; Washington). Edwards will spend the next year preparing to assume the responsibilities of president of the NMA in July 2009. She has served for more than 17 years on the board of trustees of the NMA.
