• James Merselis was named president/CEO of Alverix (San Jose, California). Most recently, Merselis was president/CEO of HemoSense. Alverix is an optoelectronics company developing portable medical diagnostic instruments in cooperation with leading point-of-care diagnostics companies.

• Rémy Trotabas has been named VP of sales for Bio-Chem Fluidics (Boonton, New Jersey). Trotabas previously was director of sales & marketing for North America for Harting Technology Group. Bio-Chem Fluidics manufactures solenoid-operated, inert pinch and isolation valves, dispensing pumps and manifolds for a range of industries including analytical chemistry, clinical diagnostics and medical device manufacturers.

• William Sullivan was named senior VP of diagnostic operations at HistoRx (New Haven, Connecticut). Sullivan previously was VP of corporate operations of Vermillion. HistoRx makes tissue-based diagnostic products for targeted patient treatment.

• Stephen Pentoney was named VP of array biochemistry at Illumina (San Diego). Previously, Pentoney held multiple positions at Beckman Coulter including his most recent role as director of technology management for the molecular diagnostics business center. Illumina makes life science tools and integrated systems for the analysis of genetic variation and biological function.

• Rodolfo Gutierrez has been named VP/GM for Latin America by Imaging Dynamics (IDC; Calgary, Alberta). Gutierrez is a native of Colombia, where he started both a diagnostic imaging center and a medical equipment sales and service business, which he owned for eight years. IDC makes digital radiography equipment.

• Predictive Biosciences (San Diego) reported the appointment of two senior executives: Ellen Sheets, MD, to the newly created position of chief medical officer and Vikram Lamba to the position of CFO. Sheets most recently served as chief medical officer and senior VP at Hologic. Lamba most recently was VP of corporate development at Advanced Medical Optics. Predictive Biosciences specializes in intervention diagnostic assays for informed cancer management.
