Frederick Bauer was named VP of operations for Cardica (Redwood City, California). Previously, Bauer was VP of operations for the cardiac surgery division of Medtronic. Cardica makes automated anastomosis systems for CABG surgery.

Joseph DeJohn was named VP of sales for Endologix (Irvine, California). Previously DeJohn was in a senior position in the peripheral vascular device division at C.R. Bard. Endologix makes the Powerlink system for the minimally invasive treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms.

William Sullivan was named senior VP of diagnostic operations at HistoRx (New Haven, Connecticut). Sullivan previously was VP of corporate operations of Vermillion. HistoRx makes tissue-based diagnostic products for targeted patient treatment.

Mark Murray was named CFO of OptiMedica (Santa Clara, California). Prior to joining OptiMedica, Murray spent more than 20 years at Guidant and its predecessor, Advanced Cardiovascular Systems. OptiMedica is an ophthalmology company.

• Predictive Biosciences (San Diego) reported the appointment of two senior executives: Ellen Sheets, MD, to the newly created position of chief medical officer and Vikram Lamba to the position of CFO. Sheets most recently served as chief medical officer and senior VP at Hologic. Lamba most recently was VP of corporate development at Advanced Medical Optics. Predictive Biosciences specializes in intervention diagnostic assays for informed cancer management.

Linda Matern was named COO of Shared Health (Chattanooga, Tennessee). Previously, she was CEO and managing partner at C2Medpartners. Shared Health provides healthcare-based web-based applications.

Lisa Burke was named VP of sales and marketing of Telemedicus (Houston). Prior to joining Telemedicus, Burke was a territorial manager for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Telemedicus makes mobile medical communications technology.
