Brenda Young has been named to the staff of ACR Image Metrix (Philadelphia) as senior director of clinical operations. Young's background includes many years of experience at the American College of Radiology, with previous experience as a clinical research associate, quality control auditor, regulatory affairs coordinator and senior director of clinical trials informatics. ACR Image Metrix is a radiology research organization affiliated with the American College of Radiology.

Richard Baron was named CFO of Avid Radiopharmaceuticals (Philadelphia). Baron most recently was the CFO of eResearchTechnology. Avid Radiopharmaceuticals specializes in the diagnosis and monitoring of brain disorders.

• Bausch & Lomb (Rochester, New York) has named John Sheets Jr., PhD, as corporate VP and chief technology officer. Previously, Sheets was global president/CEO of Hoya Surgical Optics. Bausch & Lomb is an eye health company.

Maureen Loftus was named president/COO of IBT Laboratories (Lenexa, Kansas). Previously, she was president of the Bode Technology Group. IBT Laboratories is a clinical diagnostics and biomedical research laboratory specializing in immunology and allergy assays.

• Inviro Medical Devices (Atlanta) said that CEO Gareth Clarke will retire on his 60th birthday on July 11. Tony Holler, Inviro chairman and former CEO of ID Biomedical, will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is named. Clarke joined Inviro Medical Devices as CEO in March 2005. Inviro Medical Devices is an infection control company.

Denis O'Connor was named CEO of Medical Tactile (MTI; Los Angeles). O'Connor has held senior management positions at Philips Medical Systems, Sony Medical Systems and Lockheed Martin Medical Systems. Medical Tactile makes pre-mammography technologies for the detection and assessment of cancer and other diseases of the breast.

Bob Silverman was named CEO of mtm laboratories (Heidelberg, Germany). Silverman has been mtm's chief commercial officer and president of the company's U.S. subsidiary since mid-2005. mtm laboratories makes in vitro diagnostics for cervical cancer screening.

Jonathan Rennert has been named president of Zoll Medical (Chelmsford, Massachusetts), with primarily responsibility for managing Zoll's core defibrillator/resuscitation business. Prior to joining Zoll, Rennert was president/CEO of BioProcessors. Zoll makes resuscitation devices and related software solutions.
