• Yi Zhu was named clinical research manager for ACR Image Metrix (Philadelphia). Previously, Zhu led global trial initiation with Sanofi Aventis. ACR Image Metrix is a research unit of the American College of Radiology.

• Brian Jaffee was named executive VP of marketing for AFP Imaging (Elmsford, New York). Jaffee previously was senior VP of marketing for Suni Medical Imaging. AFP Imaging is a diagnostic supplier for dental, medical and veterinary professionals.

• Louise Mawhinney was named senior VP/CFO of Ikonisys (New Haven, Connecticut). She previously was senior VP/CFO of Helicos BioSciences. Ikonisys specializes in cancer diagnosis and genetic disorder screening.

• Fredrick Clerie has been named VP of quality assurance and regulatory affairs at Illumina (San Diego). Previously, Fredrick was VP of global quality assurance and regulatory affairs for the diagnostics division of Bayer HealthCare, now Siemens Diagnostics. Illumina makes products for the large-scale analysis of genetic variation and biological function.

• Jeff Hinton was named executive VP/CFO of MedCath (Charlotte, North Carolina). Previously, he was senior VP/CFO for Matria Healthcare. MedCath specializes in high-acuity healthcare services, predominately the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.

• Ronald Ede was named group VP of international operations for Mindray Medical International (Shenzhen, China). Ede has served as an independent director on Mindray's board and several committees since the company's IPO in September 2006. He will continue to serve on as a director but will not serve on committees that require director independence. Mindray offers products across three primary business segments: patient monitoring & life support products, in-vitro diagnostic products and medical imaging systems.
