Alere Medical (Reno, Nevada) reported several management changes to position the company for future growth and expansion into new markets.

Janet Tewhillwas promoted to president/COO. Tewhill was most recently EVP/COO, and contributed significantly to Alere’s growth as the company nearly doubled in size during the last year. Gordon Norman, MD, was named EVP/chief science officer. Norman will also continue his work with the Disease Management Association of America, where he is chairman of the quality and research committee. Jon Tropsa was named EVP/CFO. Tropsa was most recently CFO of Aptuit of Connecticut, and was previously senior finance officer at Dictaphone and ChiRex. Timothy Moore, MD, was promoted to EVP/chief medical officer to focus on expanding Alere’s offerings to additional diseases and conditions. Moore was most recently responsible for Alere’s sales and client services, and will continue to oversee Alere’s health plan client relationships. Michael Majerik was named EVP/chief sales and marketing officer. Majerik comes to Alere from Magellan. Douglas Albro was named EVP/chief information officer. Albro joins Alere from BCBS Excellus in Rochester, New York.
