• Joseph Paiva has been promoted to chief business officer of Orthovita (Malvern, Pennsylvania). Paiva was the CFO from joining the company in 1997. Albert Pavucek was concurrently named Orthovita's CFO. Pavucek joined Orthovita in September 2006 as VP, finance and controller. Orthovita is a spine and orthopedic biosurgery company with biomaterials and biologic technologies for the development and commercialization of synthetic, biologically active, tissue engineering products.

Rich Bishop has been hired by Relsys International (Irvine, California) as VP of global professional services. Relsys International is a provider of software solutions for adverse event reporting, pharmacovigilance and risk management for the pharmaceutical industry.

• ThromboVision (Houston) has appointed Alan Jernigan to be VP, worldwide sales & marketing and Richard Thornton to be director of engineering & operations. Both have previously been part of start-up medical device companies. ThromboVision is a biomedical diagnostics company.
