• Peter Adamski was appointed CFO of Aptuit (Greenwich, Connecticut). Adamski takes the place of Jon Tropsa, who will return to his private consulting. Following a three-month transition, Tropsa will continue consulting with Aptuit on a range of issues. Aptuit focuses on streamlining and supporting the drug development process for biotech and pharma companies.

Julie Piton has joined AtriCure (Westchester, Ohio) as VP, finance and administration as well as CFO, effective Jan. 23, 2007. Prior to joining AtriCure, Piton was VP, finance and investor relations at School Specialty. AtriCure makes surgical devices to create precise lesions, or scars, in soft and cardiac tissues.

• The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO; Washington) reported the recent hire of Sandra Dennis as its deputy general counsel for healthcare regulatory affairs. Dennis was most recently a partner at Morgan, Lewis, & Bockius. BIO represents more than 1,100 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations across the United States and 31 other nations.

Gerald Memmi was named VP, engineering for CaseNET (Waltham, Massachusetts). Memmi will be responsible for the management of CaseNET’s software development and research efforts, including guiding product architecture, design and quality assurance. Dr. Memmi will also oversee the continuing strategic expansion of the development organization. CaseNET provides care management software and service solutions that center on the individual receiving care and the discipline of team-based care management.
