Bengt Furberg, MD, PhD, was named VP of medical affairs of Artimplant (Vastra Frolunda, Sweden). Furberg will work in his new capacity as a physician, scientist and writer. Furberg was medical director of GlaxoWellcome Sweden for 10 years, most recently serving as medical director of Bactiguard AB. Artimplant produces degradable implants that regenerate body functions.

Susanne Myler has been named VP of chain operations and compliancy of digiMedical Solutions (Colleyville, Texas). Myler is responsible for all digiMedical pharmacy operations and staff, as well as standardizing and streamlining operations and policies across all company pharmacies. digiMedical currently owns and operates six pharmacies located in Florida and Texas. The company pharmacies are part of the digiRX electronic prescription handling services and are electronically linked to doctor offices and medical clinics in the digiRX network. digiMedical Solutions is a pharmacy and medical technology company which develops digital medical technology with an emphasis on digital prescriptions that will more closely align the doctor, pharmacist and patient.

Janet Trunzo, AdvaMed ’s (Washington) EVP of technology and regulatory affairs, has been named Vice-Chair of the Global Harmonization Task Force (GHTF). Trunzo will serve along with the FDA’s Larry Kessler, PhD, who is the chair of the GHTF Steering Committee. The new position takes affect starting January, 2007. The GHTF is a voluntary group of representatives from national medical device regulatory authorities and the regulated industry. Since its inception in 1992, the GHTF has been comprised of representatives from five founding members grouped in three geographical areas: Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America.
