Affymetrix (Santa Clara, California) reported that Greg Schiffman, executive VP and CFO, has resigned to pursue the senior financial management role at another company. The company has promoted james Gibson from VP of accounting and corporate controller to principal accounting officer. Affymetrix' flagship product is the GeneChip® technology used in molecular biology research.

Delcath Systems (Stamford, Connecticut) reported that M.S. Koly has resigned as president/CEO and treasurer. The company's board simultaneously appointed Koly to the position of non-executive chairman, succeeding Samuel Herschkowitz, MD, who remains a company director. In addition, Richard Taney, a director of the Company, has been appointed Interim CEO. The company's board said it will form a search committee to identify potential candidates to assume the positions of CEO and will continue the search for a senior VP-operations of Delcath. Until this search is concluded, Taney has been empowered by the Board to appoint an Interim Chief Operating Officer and to address all outstanding litigation. Delcath develops isolated perfusion technology for organ or region-specific delivery of therapeutic agents.

• Michael Sicilian has been promoted from executive VP to president of Managed Health Care Associates (Florham Park, New Jersey). Additionally, the company said that its president, Raymond Schwartz, has requested and received a reduction in his time commitment at the company, working for the company three days per week and serving in an advisory capacity to the CEO. MHA describes itself as the largest alternate site group purchasing organization in the country serving the long-term care, home infusion and specialty pharmacy industries.
