• Alphatec Holdings (Carlsbad, California) reported that Ronald Hiscock, its president/CEO, has left the company, along with Vicky Romanoski, senior VP and chief administrative officer. Alphatec said that John Foster, executive chairman, is assuming the position of president/CEO. Alphatec makes products for the surgical treatment of spine disorders.

Mark Perry has been appointed senior sales director in charge of the UK for EDAP TMS (Lyon, France). Perry previously served as regional manager for Bausch & Lomb. He also has served in marketing and sales roles at Chiron Vision Europe and Laboratories Domilens. The company also has added two senior sales personnel in its German market operations. Uwe Perkuhn has been added as senior sales manager for Northern Germany. Perkuhn has 18 years of sales experience in medical technology, primarily in ultrasound and therapeutic urology devices including lasers and lithotripsy. He has done prior work with EDAP on a consulting basis. Ludwig Frank will join the company Jan. 1 as a senior sales manager for Southern Germany and German-speaking sites in Switzerland. Frank recently played a key role in launching GreenLight laser in Germany. Perkuhn and Frank both previously worked for Dornier Med Tech. EDAP develops Ablatherm, a high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment of localized prostate cancer.

Carla Corkern has been appointed executive VP, operations, for the extended care group at Talyst (Bellevue, Washington). Corkern is responsible for establishing and executing operational plans, including the functions of production, installation, systems integration, customer training, field service and customer support. Talyst provides automated systems to hospitals and other centralized pharmacies.
