BioLucent (Aliso Viejo, California), maker of the MammoPad breast cushion, said that it has reached a new two-year agreement to provide MammoPad to OhioHealth (Columbus, Ohio), a health system. This is the second consecutive two-year agreement between the organizations.

OhioHealth is one of the largest healthcare providers in the region, and all its facilities that provide mammograms will now offer a softer, more comfortable mammogram to 50,000 women within their system each year, the company said. Those facilities include three hospitals, eight health centers, and four other imaging centers.

MammoPad is a radiolucent, FDA-cleared foam cushion that covers the cold, hard surfaces of all commercially available mammography equipment. Clinical studies show the cushion can reduce mammography-related discomfort by half for three out of four women. The cushion has already benefited more than 10 million women, the company said.
