Daniel Brennan has been appointed vice president investor relations for Boston Scientific (Natick, Massachusetts). Brennan served most recently as vice president of international finance for the company, and his previous positions included vice president of cardiovascular finance as well as director of finance for two separate operating units in Boston Scientific’s Endosurgery Group. Milan Kofol, who has served as head of Investor Relations in addition to overseeing treasury, will continue in his role as company treasurer.

Steven Straus has been named CEO of LCA-Vision (Cincinnati, Ohio) and a member of the company’s board. Strauss takes over for Craig Joffe, who has been serving as interim CEO in addition to his responsibilities as chief operating officer and general counsel, will continue to serve the company in these latter two roles. LCA-Vision is a provider of laser vision correction services.

• Oakwood Healthcare (Dearborn, Michigan) one of Michigan’s largest healthcare systems, said it will begin a transition that commences by naming Brian Connolly, current president/CEO of Blue Water Health System (Port Huron, Michigan), as its next CEO effective Feb. 1, 2007. Gerald Fitzgerald remains as president until June 30, 2007. On July 1, 2007, Connolly will become president/CEO, and Fitzgerald will assume the title of vice chairman, which he will retain until June 30, 2008, when he retires. From now until Feb. 1, 2007, Fitzgerald continues as president/CEO at Oakwood. Subsequently, as president and then as vice chairman, he will remain focused on the implementation of Oakwood’s initiatives.

Vincent Ronfard, PhD, has been named chief scientific officer for Organogenesis (Canton, Massachusetts). Ronfard previously was associate vice president/director of Reconstructed Skin Worldwide for L’Oreal. Organogenesis is the developer of Apligraf, a bilayered living cell therapy to treat venous leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers.
