• Haemonetics (Braintree, Massachusetts) reported the decision by Ronald Matricaria, chairman of its board, to retire at the end of the calendar year, in order to spend more personal and professional time on the West Coast. Ron Gelbman, a Haemonetics board member since 2000, was elected lead director. Matricaria had been a Haemonetics director since October 2002, and chairman since April 2003. Haemonetics makes automated blood processing systems.

R. Dirk Allison has been named senior vice president and CFO for Odyssey HealthCare (Dallas). He succeeds Douglas Cannon who will remain with the company through Dec. 31 to assist in transition, the company said. Allison has almost 20 years of experience as an executive officer of a variety of healthcare companies. Odyssey operates 81 Medicare-certified hospice programs in 30 states.
