Nicholas Ventresca will join Charles River Laboratories International (Wilmington, Massachusetts) as corporate senior vice president, information technology and chief information officer, effective April 3. Ventresca has previously served with Pfizer as vice president in business technology. Charles River Laboratories is a global provider of solutions that advance the drug discovery and development process.

Eugene Poggio, PhD, has been named president and chief biostatistician of Clinquest (Hudson, Massachusetts), a global life sciences product development and clinical trials services company and a subsidiary of the Clinquest Group. For the past 20 years, Poggio has directed the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Department at Abt Associates Clinical Trials.

Craig Muir has been named to the newly-created position of senior vice president, technical operationswithCodon Devices (Cambridge, Massachusetts). Muir had held a number of executive positions, including vice president for process technology at Millennium Pharmaceuticals. In addition, the company named Dr. Brian Baynes chief scientific officer and founder. Baynes was formerly vice president of technology. Codon Devices is developing its BioFAB production platform to synthesize kilobase- to megabase-length genetic code.

Edward Brennan PhD, previously president and COO of CryoCor (San Diego), has been promoted to CEO and appointed to the board of directors. Brennan joined CryoCor in January 2005, and will lead the company's transition to a commercial stage enterprise from an early stage product development company. Gregory Ayers, MD, founder and former CEO, will continue with the company as an advisor to Brennan and will remain on CryoCor's board. CryoCor manufactures a disposable catheter system based on its proprietary cryoablation technology for the minimally invasive treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

• OnCURE Medical (Newport Beach, California), a provider of outpatient radiation therapy services, has appointed Russell Phillips Jr. as executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer; E. Larry Atkins as vice president of operations for Southern California; and Rose Guerrero as vice president of operations for southern Florida. Prior to joining OnCURE, Phillips served as the executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of Alliance Imaging. Atkins' 25 years of healthcare management experience includes nine years as president and CEO of InSight Health Services. Guerrero has served as the service line director of Cancer and Women's Services at Overlake Hospital Medical Center (Bellevue, Washington) for the last five years.

Danielle McCulloch has joined SunTech Medical (Morrisville, North Carolina) as product manager of stress blood pressure systems. Most recently, McCulloch was product manager of new product planning for Guidant's Cardiac Rhythm Management business. SunTech Medical is a provider of in motion-tolerant, noninvasive blood pressure monitoring products and technology.

Irwin Studen, senior vice president, finance and CFO of Systems Xcellence (SXC; Milton, Ontario), is leaving the company,effective April 30, to pursue other interests. Jeff Park, currently a member of SXC's board and chairman of the audit committee, has been appointed to the CFO position and will resign from his position on the SXC board. Park will be relocating to the Chicago area and will be working out of the company's U.S. headquarters in Lombard, Illinois. He previously was a senior vice president with Covington Capital. SXC is a provider of healthcare information technology solutions and services to the healthcare benefits management industry.
