Fabrice Romano has been named senior marketing director of EDAP TMS (Valux-En-Velin, France). He previously was European marketing manager for Sofradim, a French manufacturer of surgical implants used in general and urogynecological surgery. EDAP makes the Ablatherm system for high-intensity focused ultrasound treatment of localized prostate cancer.

Pierre Devesly has been named clinical project group leader at Kendle (Cincinnati), a global clinical research organization, with responsibility for directing Phase I-III clinical development projects for the organization’s biopharmaceutical customers. Devesly most recently was with Quintiles Transnational, where he served as group director, project management.

Stephen Lee, PhD, has been named executive vice president and chief science officer of OraSure Technologies (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania), which terms itself the market leader in oral fluid diagnostics, Lee has 20 years of experience in the immunodiagnostic industry, primarily with Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, where he held a variety of posts. OraSure manufactures oral fluid specimen collection devices using proprietary oral fluid technologies, diagnostic products including immunoassays and other in vitro diagnostic tests, and other medical devices.

Robert Edwards has been appointed CFO of Synova Healthcare, a wholly owned subsidiary of Synova Healthcare Group (Media, Pennsylvania). Edwards brings more than 20 years of experience in finance and accounting with a wide range of companies, including most recently as CEO of Colortronic. Synova distributes rapid, non-invasive medical diagnostics to retail for over-the-counter use and to healthcare providers for point-of-care use.

John Buhler has been appointed president and CEO of Ultrasonix (Burnaby, British Columbia). Buhler brings extensive medical imaging and business leadership expertise to Ultrasonix management team, following a 23-year career with GE Healthcare and Diasonics VingMed Ultra-sound. He most recently served as vice president and general manager of Performance Technologies, a GE division focused on high-growth ultrasound markets and compact technologies. Privately held Ultrasonix is focused on development and manufacturing of diagnostic ultrasound imaging systems.

Karen Brozowski has been named product manager, Medical Health Services, for T V America’s (Danvers, Massachusetts) East Region. She has 20 years of quality and regulatory experience.
