Pauline Gee, PhD, has been named vice president and general manager of the BioSystems Division of CeMines (Golden, Colorado). Shee previously was vice president of predictive biology for MDS Pharma Services and will be responsible for BioSystems operations and building the recently announced product management organization. CeMines also reported the appointment of Anosheh Amery as vice president of sales and marketing for the division, reporting to Gee. Amery joins CeMines from Invitrogen, where he was responsible for directing the launch of more than 15 new products. CeMines specializes in cell regulatory network research and molecular diagnostics R&D for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer.

Timothy Guertin has been named president and chief operating officer of Varian Medical Systems (Palo Alto, California), and Dow Wilson has been promoted to executive vice president for the company. Guertin is a 30-year veteran with Varian, serving as executive vice president and COO since January. Wilson joined Varian as corporate vice president and president, oncology systems, in January. Varian bills itself as the leading manufacturer of integrated cancer therapy systems. It also is a supplier of X-ray tubes and flat-panel digital subsystems for imaging in medical, scientific and industrial applications.
