• Align Technology (Santa Clara, California), the developer of Invisalign, a method of straightening teeth without wires and brackets, reported that Robert Mitchell has resigned as vice president, worldwide sales, to join MilliMed Holdings as president and CEO. Mitchell joined Align in July 2004. Vice President of Global Marketing David Thrower will assume day-to-day responsibility and management of all sales operations until a replacement has been named.

Kevin Elder has been appointed CFO of Bio-Matrix Scientific Group (San Diego). He most recently was CFO for StereoVision. Additionally, James Lambert, PhD, has been named bio-instrument scientific advisor for. Lasmbert for the last five years has served as the technical group supervisor of the Intelligent Instrument and Systems Technology Group of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In addition to managing his group, Lambert will be principal investigator of two projects: a non-invasive glucose monitor which utilizes Raman spectroscopy to measure glucose levels via the eye and the Quantum Dot Lateral Flow Assay Project in which semiconductor nanoparticles are combined with antibodies within an immunoassay for testing the potable water supplies of crewed vehicles. Bio-Matrix Scientific is a development-stage company in the business of medical devices and monitoring systems research, development and commercialization.

David Ladner, PhD, has been named to lead the newly formed department of licensing and patents at Xenomics (New York). Ladner for the past five years has been a manager of intellectual property in the pharmaceutical division of Bayer Pharma. Xenomics is developing gateway DNA testing technology designed to expand the field of molecular diagnostics.
