W. Jeffrey Allard, PhD, has been named vice president and chief scientific officer for Fujirebo Diagnostics (FDI; Malvern, Pennsylvania), a developer of in vitro diagnostics, Allard previously was vice president of clinical research and development at Immunicon. FDI manufactures diagnostics, with an emphasis in oncology.

Robert Saltmarsh has been appointed CFO of Nanogen (San Diego). Saltmarsh joined Nanogen as vice president of corporate development last September. In addition to participating in business development initiatives, he assumed oversight of all financial operations and investor relations for the company. Nanogen makes the NanoChip Molecular Biology Workstation, NanoChip Electronic Microarray and a suite of analyte specific reagents to develop tests to detect infectious diseases, drug toxicity and mutations associated with cancer, cardiovascular and genetic diseases.

Michael Murdock has been appointed senior vice president and CFO of Radiologix (Dallas). He will join the company on Feb. 1, replacing Richard Sabolik. For the past five years, Murdock has served as CFO of Dental One. President and CEO Sami Abbasi, the company's former CFO, will act as interim CFO until Jan. 31. Radiologix is a national provider of diagnostic imaging services, owning and operating multi-modality diagnostic imaging centers.

Shelli Field has been named president of the TVG Marketing Research & Consulting business unit of PDI (Saddle River, New Jersey). Field joined TVG in 2002 as an executive vice president and member of the company's exec- utive committee. PDI is a provider of outsourced sales and marketing services to the biopharmaceutical and medical device and diagnostics industries.

Varian Medical Systems (Palo Alto, California), a manufacturer of integrated cancer therapy systems, X-ray tubes and flat-panel digital subsystems for imaging, reported three management appointments. Timothy Guertin, executive vice president, has been named chief operating officer. Guertin joined the company 29 years ago and has been serving as president of Oncology Systems, Varian's largest business segment, since 1999. Dow Wilson has been appointed corporate vice president and president, Oncology Systems. Wilson comes to Varian from GE, where he was CEO of the GE Healthcare-Information Technologies business. Elisha Finney, corporate vice president and CFO, has been promoted to senior vice president. Finney joined Varian 16 years ago.
