Variagenics Inc., of Cambridge, Mass., said it was granted U.S. Patent No. 6,251,587 titled ¿Methods for Determining the Prognosis of a Patient with Neurological Disease.¿ It covers a method of determining the prognosis of a patient diagnosed with Parkinson¿s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke and other brain diseases.

ViroLogic Inc., of South San Francisco, said it was granted U.S. Patent No. 6,242,187. It covers anti-hepatitis B virus drug susceptibility testing in various settings.

Xenomics Inc., of San Francisco, said it was granted U.S. Patent No. 6,251,638 titled ¿Methods for Detection of Nucleic Acid Sequences in Urine.¿ It covers the use of urine samples from pregnant women for prenatal diagnostics.
