A paper on Duchenne muscular dystrophy in the August1995 issue of Human Molecular Genetics, reported inBioWorld Today July 20, p. 1, quotes its author, GeorgeDickson, describing that article as ". . . the first publishedrecord of a full transgenic mouse study with the so-calledminidystrophin gene showing virtually completeprotection." Margaret Wahl, of the Muscular DystrophyAssociation, in Tucson, Ariz., calls attention to an earlierpaper by Raphael et al. in the same journal for October1994, titled "Prevention of dystrophic pathology in mdxmice by a truncated dystrophin isoform."
