The Beyond Beef Campaign and the Pure Food Campaign (PFC)are planning to inundate with leaflets 3,000 MacDonald'srestaurants on Saturday, demanding that the fast-food chain"take the pledge" to be BGH-free.

The nationwide attempt at boycotting is part of the PFC'sconsumer boycott of milk, meat and dairy products from cowstreated with genetically engineered bovine growth hormone(BGH).

The PFC, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group that stemsfrom Jeremy Rifkin's Foundation on Economic Trends, hasalready convinced a number of companies to adopt BGH-freepolicies, including Gerber's, Farmland Dairies, Alta-Dean,Colombo, Tillamook and Ben & Jerry's.
