DNA Plant Technology Corp. announced Tuesday that it haslicensed to the Dutch company Mogen International N.V. itspatents for the expression of chitinase in geneticallyengineered plants to enable them to resist fungal disease.

The license gives Mogen, a plant biotech company that hasclose ties with seed companies, the exclusive worldwide rightsto commercialize the patent for all applications to all cropsexcept in DNAP's key business areas, principally premiumfruits and vegetables and edible canola oil.

DNAP will receive an undisclosed cash payment, royalties andthe right to use Mogen's proprietary binary vector system forgenetic engineering.
