DUBLIN – Bergenbio ASA joins an expanding list of companies whose candidate drug has failed to attain the primary endpoint of a clinical trial in COVID-19.
LONDON – Scientists investigating the impact of SARS-CoV-19 on protein expression in human cells have shown that infected cells develop virus-laden membrane protrusions, or filopodia, which may explain the rapidity of viral spread through the body.
LONDON – The U.K. has started a fast track national trial of experimental drugs in COVID-19 patients, with Bergenbio ASA’s phase II cancer immunotherapy, bemcentinib, the first of six products that are due to join the study.
DUBLIN – Bergenbio ASA raised NOK219.9 million (US$23.9 million) in a private placement priced at NOK18 per share. The fresh injection of cash will enable the Bergen, Norway-based firm to expand its broad development program for lead drug candidate bemcentinib (BGB-324), a first-in-class Axl inhibitor, which is currently in phase II development in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), triple-negative breast cancer and melanoma.
