Continuing its aggressive buying spree, Bruker Corp. entered into a definitive share purchase agreement with Tecfin S.à r.l. to acquire molecular diagnostics (MDx) company Elitechgroup SAS for €870 million (US$943.5 million), excluding the Elitech clinical chemistry business. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2024 and will be funded with a mix of cash on hand and debt financing.
Bruker Corp. signed a definitive agreement to acquire functional cell biology company Phenomex for $108 million as part of its Project Accelerate 2.0 strategy, which increases focus on the company’s emerging proteomics and spatial biology business. Bruker offered $1 per share, a 150% premium over the 40 cents per share closing price of Phenomex stock on Aug. 16. The all-cash transaction is slated to close in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Ionpath Inc., a developer of high-definition spatial proteomics, scored $18 million in a series B funding round led by Samsara Biocapital. The round also included global mass spectrometry leader Bruker Corp. as a new investor. Menlo Park, Calif.-based Ionpath plans to use the investment for continued development and deployment of the company’s Multiplexed Ion Beam Imaging (MIBI) technology, which provides quantitative protein imaging at a subcellular level.
