Cook Medical to open Canton manufacturing plant

Cook Medical (Bloomington, Indiana) reported the creation of new jobs with the development of Cook Canton, a new medical device manufacturing plant to be located at the former International Harvester plant in Canton, Illinois.

In collaboration with the city of Canton and mayor Kevin Meade, Cook Medical plans to invest in excess of $5 million, in a 45,000-square-foot facility in the fall of 2009. Bill Cook, founder of Cook Medical, was raised in Canton and remains close to many in the area.

"It's been a pleasure working with Mayor Meade, his administration and the state of Illinois," said Scott Eells, executive VP/COO, Cook Medical. "The community has embraced Cook and made it easy to become a partner in the economic development of Canton. That level of support and commitment is why we want to give back to Mr. Cook's hometown."
