Sangamo BioSciences Inc., of Richmond, Calif., reported preclinical data showing the use of zinc finger nucleases in the production of genetically modified pigs. Data, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, described a method for generating animals in which a chosen gene is knocked out from the genome.
