• Michael Farley has been named interim CEO of the American Diabetes Association (Alexandria, Virginia). Farley, currently the association’s chief community and corporate relations officer, succeeds Lynn Nicholas who recently resigned to pursue other opportunities. Prior to joining the ADA, Farley served as Senior Vice President of Development with the USO World Headquarters and also served nine years at the American Red Cross.

Glenn Kenney has been named VP, strategy and corporate development at Globus Medical (Audubon, Pennsylvania). In this newly created position, Kenney will oversee surgeon relations, basic and applied research, engineering services, and national accounts. Previously Kenney was president of Teleflex Fluid Systems. Globus bills itself as one of the 10 largest spinal implant manufacturers in the U.S.

Sami Abbasi has been named CEO and chairman of National Surgical Care (NSC; Chicago). Richard Pence, a co-founder of the Company and its Chief Operating Officer, assumes the additional role of president. Abbasi most recently served as president/CEO of Radiologix, recently acquired by RadNet.

NSC owns, develops and operates surgical facilities in partnership with physicians and healthcare systems across the country.

John Radak has been named CFO of Quidel (San Diego), effective Feb 1. Radak will succeed Paul Landers, who announced his retirement last year. Landers will continue his service with the company through the end of March. Since 2003, Radak has served as VP and chief accounting officer for Invitrogen. Quidel develops point-of-care rapid diagnostics.

William Osgood, PhD, has been named general manager, operations, for ThermoGenesis (Rancho Cordova, California). Osgood previously served as senior VP of the cardiopulmonary business of Sorin Group. ThermoGenesis manufactures automated blood processing systems and disposable products

Mark Kopser has been promoted to executive VP and CFO of United Surgical Partners International (USPI; Dallas). Kopser joined USPI as senior VP and CFO in May 2000. USPI has ownership interests in or operates 141 surgical facilities.
