Work in the Dec. 14, 2008 issue of Nature Medicine solves an old riddle: Why a 1960's vaccine for respiratory syncytial virus, far from being protective, instead exacerbated disease - a misadventure which, senior author Fernando Polack told BioWorld Today, "has been a major factor hampering vaccine development against RSV" to this day.
