• Miguel Quinones-Mateu, PhD, has joined Diagnostic Hybrids (Athens, Ohio) as director of its recently created HIV Program. Quinones-Mateu previously served as assistant professor of molecular genetics at the Lerner Research Institute of The Cleveland Clinic. Diagnostic Hybrids makes products for a range of viral respiratory diseases, herpes virus infections, and other specific viral and thyroid diseases.

• Joanne Stephenson was named head of strategic marketing for Innovative Biosensors (College Park, Maryland), and Richard Thomas has been named VP of business development. Stephenson most recently served as VP, business development, sales and marketing at Response Biomedical. Thomas recently served as VP of government programs for Sceptor Industries. Innovative Biosensors is developing technologies for the rapid detection of pathogens.

• Douglas Prince will be joining MDS (Toronto) as the executive VP, finance and CFO, effective March 12, replacing Jim Garner. Prince joins MDS from PerkinElmer. MDS provides products and services for the development of drugs and diagnostics.

• Gary Bowers has been promoted to president of Merge Healthcare (Milwaukee). Bowers will manage the Merge Healthcare North America sales and business development channel. Merge specializes in medical imaging and information management software and services.

• Luke Huang has been named president of Radlink (Redondo Beach, California). Richard Gerlach, who founded the company and most recently served as its president, will assume the title of founder and distinguished scientist and remain active on the board. Huang most recently worked at Radlink as an executive engineer. Radlink provides medical film-to-digital image conversion, storage and delivery services to healthcare providers.

• Paul Hawran has been appointed CFO of Sequenom (San Diego), effective April 1. Hawran served as CFO of Neurocrine Biosciences from 1993 to 2006. Sequenom provides genetic analysis products that translate genomic science into solutions for non-invasive prenatal testing, biomedical research, molecular medicine and agricultural applications.

• Tony Francisco has been promoted to senior marketing manager for international markets for SunTech Medical (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina). Francisco was formerly product manager for automated blood pressure monitoring for exercise stress testing. SunTech produces motion-tolerant non-invasive blood pressure monitoring technologies.
