• Bill Bonnar was named senior VP of operations for Illumina (San Diego). Bonnar joins Illumina from KLA-Tencor, where he served in several senior operations management positions. Illumina makes life science tools and integrated systems for the analysis of genetic variation and biological function.

• Caren Mason, president/CEO of Quidel (San Diego), has reported that she will retire on June 1. The board has initiated a search for her replacement. Quidel makes rapid diagnostic solutions at the point of care in infectious diseases and reproductive health

• Clas Runnberg has been named managing director of international operations for Vidacare (San Antonio). Previously, Runnberg was director of corporate affairs and strategic planning at HemoCue in Sweden. Vidacare makes intraosseous access technology for multiple diagnostic, monitoring and therapeutic applications.
