Shawna Willey, MD, director of the Betty Lou Ourisman Breast Health Center at Georgetown University, has assumed the presidency of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (Columbia, Maryland). Willey, who is also an assistant professor in the department of surgery at Georgetown's Lombardi Cancer Center, will serve for the coming year. The American Society of Breast Surgeons is a medical society focusing exclusively on the surgical treatment of breast disease

Frank Plenskofski was named CFO of Care Investment Trust (New York). Most recently, Plenskofski was a senior VP with Trust Company of the West. Care Investment Trust is a real estate investment and finance company formed principally to invest in healthcare-related real estate and commercial mortgage debt.

Elisse Barbara Walter was sworn in as a commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Washington). Prior to being appointed an SEC commissioner, Walter was senior executive VP, regulatory policy & programs, at FINRA. The SEC also said that Stewart Mayhew has been promoted to deputy chief economist in the agency's Office of Economic Analysis. Mayhew joined the SEC staff in 2002 as a visiting academic scholar, and since 2004 has served as an assistant chief economist, leading a group that provides economic analysis and support for the Division of Investment Management, Division of Trading and Markets, and Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations.
