Raymond Land was named senior VP/CFO of Clarient (Aliso Viejo, California), effective June 5, joining the company from Safeguard Scientifics, where he was CFO. Clarient makes anatomic pathology and molecular testing services resource for pathologists, oncologists and the pharmaceutical industry.

Charles Bramlage was named president of pharmaceutical products for Covidien (St. Louis). Most recently, Bramlage was president for North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Valeant Pharmaceuticals. Covidien makes product lines in four segments: medical devices, imaging solutions, pharmaceutical products and medical supplies.

Peter Baird, president of DJO (San Diego), will leave the company to pursue other opportunities. Baird is expected to remain in his position for a short transition period. DJO makes products that provide solutions for musculoskeletal health, vascular health and pain management.

Mitchell Halpern, PhD, has joined Strategic Polymer Sciences (State College, Pennsylvania) as VP of strategy and business development. Halpern spent most of his career at SRI International and its spinout, SRI Consulting Business Intelligence, where he was a founding partner. Strategic Polymer Sciences makes polymeric electronic materials and devices.
