• Deirdre Cunnane has joined Advanced Technology Ventures (ATV; Waltham, Massachusetts) as general counsel. Cunnane comes to ATV with more than 16 years of legal experience, most recently at BancBoston Ventures, where she was responsible for managing venture and buyout investments in healthcare, high-tech and retail industries. ATV is a bi-coastal venture capital firm that invests in information technology and healthcare companies.

• Edward Cymerys has joined Blue Shield of California (San Francisco) as senior vice president and chief actuary. Prior to joining Blue Shield, Cymerys served in various roles with PacifiCare Health Systems including senior vice president of pricing and underwriting. Blue Shield of California covers more than 3.3 million members and has 4,500 employees and more than 20 office locations throughout California.
