Michael Falvey has been named CFO of Aspect Medical (Newton, Massachusetts). Falvey succeeds Neal Armstrong following the completion of a planned nine-month transition period during which Falvey served as vice president of finance. Armstrong has retired as CFO after more than eight years of service at Aspect and will continue to serve as a senior advisor to the company. Falvey joined Aspect in March 2004. In addition to finance, he will lead the human resources, information systems and facilities functions for the company. Aspect Medical develops brain-monitoring technology. Its BIS technology directly measures the effects of anesthetics and sedatives on the brain.

Michael Silver, PhD, has joined DOBI Medical International (Mahwah, New Jersey) as vice president of clinical research. Silver has more than 25 years of experience in the medical and pharmaceutical industries, including implementing imaging biomarkers in clinical trials for oncology, central nervous system and cardiovascular therapeutics, and medical imaging systems research and development. DOBI Medical is a development-stage medical imaging company focused on creating a new means of improved diagnosis of cancer through the identification of angiogenesis associated with tumors. Its first application of the technology is the ComfortScan system, a non-invasive and non-ionizing, optical imaging system designed to assist in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer.
